Metallic Dress
Rhode Island School of Design
This "metallic dress" was knit using a single bed knitting machine with metallic and cotton yarn. The dress was dip dyed at the bottom using black MX dye to create a dark gradient. The top part was knit as one piece using vertical transfers on one side to create the straps. The bottom of the dress is made of twelve individual panels that were hand sewn together in opposing directions to create the pleating effect. This project was my final assignment for Anne Emlein's Sophomore year Machine Knitting class.
