VIET ARTISANS // vol. 1

"Viet Artisans is a nonprofit project in Southern Vietnam that provides free vocational training and job placement for rural and unemployed women. They make beautiful handmade handicrafts to sell to companies and tourists. And all of the profits go back to the school to help more people in need." Beautiful! isn't it :)

Below are some of the works I created when working for Viet Artisans. In general, all of the works capture iconic scenes in daily life of Vietnam. These artworks are then turned into design for notebook covers, posters, postcards, cards, etc...

If you are interested in learning more about Viet Artisans and their work, you can visit their website @ www.vietartisans.org, and help spread the word! :)

Lotus pond
Banana tree can be easily found in rural villages of Vietnam.
It not only represents the rustic countryside, but also it is a symbol of resourcefulness. From head to root, nothing in the banana tree is wasted. The leaves are used to wrap cake. The trunks are used to feed pigs. The fruits for eating. The flowers are for making salad.

Golden Lotus
Elegant water lily flowers. They grow in muddy swamp. In spite of the fetid smell of the mud and still water, the flowers blossom to show the world their true beauty and gentle aroma. For this reason, they are the symbol for purity.
