"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts"
Madison Kim | 2017 | undecided & undecided
The artist explores the concept of “full” through the idea of seemingly insignificant things coming together to become something vital to the completeness of the piece. A strip of paper alone may not look like much, but when 192 are weaved together into a large paper, every single one of them become essential to its structure. It is same with the pattern of densely packed circles. A circle may be just a simple shape by itself. However when they condense into a graphic pattern, the pattern becomes incomplete or flawed when even one out of 4608 of them disappear. The piece is “full” because it needs all of its parts to work as a whole.
