ASSIGNMENT PROMPT:
Find an instance in nature of the cause-and-effect interplay of natural force and form (this might involve patterns of growth, weather, animal locomotion etc.), and plan and execute a visualization based on your hypothesis and sketches that will show force and form together in such a way that the influence of the force on the form will be understandable, using the YURT painting and image-placement program CAVEPAINTING.

STUDIED FORCE AND FORM: CEPHALOPOD'S INK
Cephalopod ink is a dark pigment released into the water by most species of cephalopod, usually as an escape mechanism. The ink is released from the creature’s ink sack, often accompanied by a jet of water from the siphon to create a diffused, dark-colored cloud meant obscure the predator's view. The change in shape of the ink in water as a result of the complex fluid dynamics environment around it is both interesting as a constantly changing form as well as a visual representation of interacting forces. I also want to explore the potential of the playing with how to represent the intricate and organic form and forces of this action with the tools available in the Yurt.
