This garment is the result of exploration into the properties of the traditional twill weave used in cotton denim jeans. Discarded vintage cotton-denim jeans were hand shredded to separate warp threads from weft threads; the loose threads were then layered laterally between sheet of water-soluble stabilizer. The cotton threads were stitched together and the stabilizer was washed away, leaving behind a delicate, lace-like, new material nearly unrecognizable from its original form.

This process of reuse and repurposing can perhaps bring to light new methods of making for the textile and fashion industries which can prevent further waste from being left behind in landfills.
