Phu Quoc Island

The final post from my trip to China and Vietnam at the beginning of this year.

Phu Quoc Island, a Vietnamese territory off the cost of Cambodia which is still relatively unspoilt... for now.
Previously used by both the French and American occupactions to hold POWs, away from mainland Vietnam and the conflict.
We rented a scooter for a day, this was a great way to see the Island on your own terms, tours can be good, but this way meant we were able to go where we want and stop off and explore wherever we wanted.
Pepper farmer, Xom Moi Village.
A remote fishing village located in the north of the island, a beautiful leftover from a time which may soon be passed once the land grabs for hotels have finsihed.
Caught a dive boat out of Duong Dong, the main settlement on the island.

The diving was not what I imagined it would be in this part of the world. As I understand it, awareness of the importance of keeping oceans clean and the dangers of over-fishing has not reached a vast number of its population living in areas such as this. Many believe they will realise too late just how much they are shooting themeselves in the foot. All that aside it was a great way to experience a different perspective on the island.
Dinh Cau Night Market.

Evidence that beatiful species of fish, sharks and snakes do exist in the waters of Vietnam, unfortunately I saw more here on land than I did in the sea.
Chua Ho Quoc Temple
Sao Beach
One of two people to which I owe everything to, Dad.
My girl and travel buddy, thankyou for putting up with my innability to sit still, lay on a sunbed for more than an hour or walk at a casual pace.
