For this project, I was assigned to make a AIGA 2022 (American Institute of Graphic Arts) "Get The Vote Out" poster and Instagram Social Square.
The goal of this project is to help motivate 18-24 year old to register and vote.
The first thing I had to do was pick a theme for my poster and then pick a message I wanted to say on my poster to help motivate 18-24yr olds.
The themes I got to choose from was:
★ Voter Education Week: October 2–6, 2023
★ Vote Early Day: October 28, 2023
★ Celebrate Democracy! Midterm Elections: November 7, 2023
★ Vote Early Day: October 28, 2023
★ Celebrate Democracy! Midterm Elections: November 7, 2023
The theme I chose was Voter Education Week
Next I had to decide on what I wanted to say in my message, I chose:
My Message:
Headline: No Vote, No Voice
Small Tagline: Voter Education Week Additional Copy: October 2–6, 2023
Headline: No Vote, No Voice
Small Tagline: Voter Education Week Additional Copy: October 2–6, 2023
Now that I had a theme and message in mind it was now time to start researching. I had to research my demographics which was 18-24yr olds. I really had to dive in and research about what they like, what motivates them, personality wise, etc.
Here is a copy of my research.
After my research I had to now find fonts for my poster and the message. I want my fonts to be clear and legible, nothing too fancy.
Here are the fonts that found. They're also Adobe fonts.
Cooper Black is the top.
Impact is the middle.
Goudy Stout is the bottom.
I ended up choosing Cooper Black & Impact.
Now that I have my fonts chosen, it was finally time to start finding references.
Here are some of the references that I found.
Once I found my references, it was now time to start sketching out ideas for my poster. For this part I will be using the "Rule of Thirds." Instead of having the subject dead center, I want to have my subject slightly off center because this will give the poster a more natural look. Plus, this will tell the viewer where to look first.
Here are my sketches. I ended up choosing the one on the first page, second row, 6th sketch. The girl with tape on her mouth.
Next, it was time to choose color theory. I wanted to have some brightness to my poster to catch the eye of the reader.
Here is my color theory.
Here is the final AIGA 2022 "GTVO" poster. I gave my subject purple hair because not only was it different, but a lot of younger generations seem to be doing more of it. Also, I had duct tape on her mouth that said "No Vote, No Voice." In a way, if you don't cast your vote you have no say on the final election.
Here is also the AIGA 2022 Instagram Social Media.
Here is a mockup of my poster design.
A Special Thank You to all the photographers' photos that were used in the making of this project!

Thank you so much for viewing my project! I really did enjoy this project because I think its important to let the younger generation know that having the ability to vote is a huge opportunity to see change in our nation. By not voting, you don't have a say on the outcome. Which is why I chose "No Vote, No Voice" for my message.
