Bridges and Barriers in Vaccine Deployment: Lessons Learned and Practical Applications Part One

From notable milestones about the latest developments in COVID-19 vaccines to sharing by everyday healthcare workers about their post-vaccine experiences through TikTok videos, "Vacci-Nation: Pathways To Health Resilience Beyond COVID-19", covered a lot of ground in providing lifesaving information about COVID-19 vaccines, and its deployment. PDRF's Project K3 team, in partnership with New Zealand Aid Programme and Brown University's first webinar, "Bridges, and Barriers in Vaccine Deployment: Lessons Learned and Practical Applications", informed us why vaccines matter, and why these matter NOW. The presentations by Brown University faculty members, Dr. John Foggle and Dr. Ramu Kharel marveled at the science of COVID-19 vaccines, highlighted lessons on logistics, and shared some personal expectations after getting the vaccine. In providing practical advice for our healthcare workers and LGU staffers, Dr. Stephanie Garbern shared tips on how to uphold vaccine confidence through effective public communication strategies. Dr. Odeda Benin-Goren and Lev Zhuravsky both shared key success points and expected challenges from their rollouts in Israel and New Zealand, respectively.

The event also provided an opportunity for LGU representatives, Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr. (Bacolod City) and Mr. Vincent Emnas (Ormoc City), to react to sharings from our global panel of experts. Likewise, Dr. Aleli Sudiacal (DOH) has outlined good points while addressing critical challenges that the Philippines must take on as it approaches the next phase of its COVID-19 strategy.

The live event was attended by 544 participants – a cross-cutting mix of LGU representatives, healthcare workers, and civil society organizations, scattered across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Risk Communications and the Road to Pandemic Recovery Part Two

PDRF's Project K3 team, in partnership with New Zealand Aid Programme and Brown University just concluded the 2nd part of the PDRF-Brown University Lecture Series entitled “Risk Communications and the Road to Pandemic Recover” attended by over 689 participants from LGUs and hospitals from all over the country.

Our esteemed experts talked about all the critical information needed in a risk communications strategy in the time of COVID-19. Dr. John Foggle of Brown U opened the event with a presentation on the types of vaccines, efficacy rates, and herd community. Dr. Alexis Kearney, also from Brown U, talked about risk communication strategies to increase vaccine confidence among our stakeholders. Best practices in risk communications in the pandemic were also shared by Mr. Jet Pampolina of Deloitte Philippines and Ms. Liza Velle Ramos of Makati LGU. Finally, risk communication strategies of DOH were shared by Dr. Crystle Cotingting, PDRF's ⁨Camille Rae Lim⁩ discussed the primer on the gender equity LGU toolbox, and the importance of risk communication for marginalized communities were discussed by Atty.
