THE COFFEE HOUSE VN
Back in August, 2020, I was approached by THE COFFEE HOUSE VN- a famous brand of Coffee and Tea in Vietnam - to create a series of illustrations. This collection was to express its sincere support to people working at the front line during the second national wave of pandemic. Unfortunately, the final versions of these illustrations didn’t get the chance to go live. Fortunately, the sketches and ideas did!!!

“Dear Dragon Bridge, hope you’ll get well soon so we can see those glamorous fire breath again!” - this illustration indicates Đà Nẵng City as the Dragon on the Dragon Bridge. It’s quite alarming back then when the second national wave of Covid-19 started

“Dear our Golden Bridge, soon we’ll come and visit you” - this time, the Golden Bridge now plays the city

“Let’s get married when the pandemic is gone, shall we?” - the couple is now currently in Hội An - a city with ancient theme/vibe - picturing themselves dressing as groom and bride waiting to be pronounced husband and wife

“Don’t worry, we are still doing well. We’ll meet soon when the pandemic is over” - at this point, I was experimenting with shapes to draw trees and I love how they turn out

This illustration shows the connection and how these buildings unite standing strong during this second wave of Covid. Besides, this piece also acts as a reminder that people can all dine out again after the pandemic is gone (signs of the restaurants, “Mì Quảng, Cao Lầu, Bánh Bột Lọc”, are names of famous local foods)

Last piece of this series of illustrations. This is my favorite one of all. The illustration shows three moments that have become so iconic: doctors wearing lots of layers of protection, waiters and waitresses getting used to having masks on all the time, and policemen going on missions more frequently than before leading them having less time for family
