TIGER
Da Lat Genius Luci Complex Ecology is a Spring 2018 project from 33S Lab division of 33S Group Co., Ltd. Located in Da Lat City, the emerging green heart of Southeastern Vietnam, this complex ecology represents the country’s cultural aesthetics and determination towards sustainable development. Depictions of terraced field farming and kinship are the principle behind the architecture. The topological arrangement of kinsmen in a traditional Vietnamese family, the solid structures, and spatial mathematics expose the tiger figure harmoniously.
THE CREATIVE PROCESS
Da Lat Genius Luci Complex Ecology delicately balances both the negation and collaboration of two elements: urban sustainability (four dimensions of the Circles of Sustainability: agrarian society, Asian-tiger economic spirit, rich biodiversity, socialist republic system) and industrialism (infrastructure revolution and digital transformation). We call this a complex ecology because the mass’s delineation conserves a tiger’s ideology attributed to climate, and because its deconstruction preserves the underneath mechanism of Vietnamese’s everyday business sprints.
This complex ecology by 33S Lab boldly architects the genius of the juxtaposition of the above-mentioned elements. For every direction that enters and exits the ecology, Vietnam rich agricultural history and extraordinary biodiversity can be explored, from terraced field farming nurtured by the H’Mong (H’Mông) population in Lao Cai (Lào Cai) to the Ho Xuan Huong (Hồ Xuân Hương) lake. For every direction that considers the geometric mathematics of the ecology, Vietnam’s economic spirit can be seen from the tiger shape pictorially accumulated by all solid buildings. In addition, green-imbued stripes or glasses of different sizes along the face of all structures, inspired by the electromagnetic spectrum, illustrate the nation’s digital shift. Amidst its cultural and economic sharpness, this sustainable complex functions harmoniously with all political layers.
THE BLUEPRINT
The overall architecture pays homage to contemporary architecture with a high emphasis on both industrialist interior and eco-friendly exterior. Apartments inside this futuristic complex is highly suitable for the working professionals who hold a vigorous inner yearning towards self-mastery beside their outer exhibition. In addition, there are co-working space to harbor the entrepreneurial spirit of A teams. Public areas, such as a mall and different recreational parks, are there to welcome and nurture the citizens of a new-born green city inside an ambitious Vietnam.
