Through research and sketches, a visualization of 30 distinct data sets is compiled into a single poster, including topics such as population, energy, economy, transportation, people, climate, health, and education. Data was primarily taken from The Economist’s Pocket World in Figures and accompanied by sources from the USDA, the World Bank, and the CIA. A variety of methods such as pie/doughnut charts, bar charts, line graphs, maps, symbols, and illustrated graphics were used to display information on Mexico, allowing viewers to easily access the information through visual means.
The color palette consists of the primary colors of pastel red and green, derived from the Mexican flag. A blue-tinted gray is used to color code countries other than Mexico. And a light beige background is used to complement the three primary colors used and to highlight the soft pastel nature of the palette that is easy to the eyes.
Standing at 60”x20”, the printed poster would display all details clearly when printed to size. Snapshots of specific sections of the poster is included to provide better details on screen.
